Ramadan is a time of family, community, worship & love. Muslims have memories from a young age about Ramadan and the traditions of the holy month.

In Gaza, when Palestinians think of Ramadan, we think of Al Zawiya market with the colorful stalls and the strong smell of herbs. The Great Omari mosque, where people pray Taraweeh and we do madeeh (Islamic poetry & songs). The smell of fatteh and maftool coming out of the windows and the taste of qatayef on a full stomach. The struggle to open our eyes when the musahrati’s chants and drumming before sunrise.

Ramadan in Gaza has always been special with the lanterns glowing and big smiles around the table during sunset. This Ramadan will be the third one in genocide so we ask of you to donate and supporting us in trying to make it as special as possible.

Ramadan is coming, the month of fasting, worship and community. Palestinians in Gaza will be living their third Ramadan in genocide! 526 Palestinians killed in Gaza by the military occupation since the “ceasefire” and less than a quarter of the trucks needed are entering the Strip. Most of the people don’t even have their basic needs. As the man in the video says, as Muslims, we welcome Ramadan with hope and our hope is that the genocide ends, and that the ummah unites. The ummah is like one body, where the pain of one part is felt by all, requiring collective responsibility to support those in distress. Give your zakat to our Ramadan Campaign so we can provide 100,000 meals for iftar this year.
Our healing is in our collective. This is how improving mental health looks like in Gaza! Delicious food, children running around, men drinking tea and chatting, women cooking and catching up! After listening to feedback from people in camps, they said gathering for meals is a source of joy for them, so we made it happen for 150 families. The initiative was done by Translating Falasteen (@translating_falasteen) x The Sameer Project team in the Aedoon Camp, Tuffah, and the cost was just $307 with 11% commission. With Ramadan coming up, group iftars will also happen and The Sameer Project is preparing for large Iftars with hundreds of people! 🚨🚨 Babies in Gaza are hungry 🚨🚨 Mothers in Gaza are suffering and most are incapable of keeping up with the basic needs for their babies. Thousands of babies are malnourished due to lack of access to formula. After more than two years of genocide, many mothers struggle to breastfeed and rely on formula to keep their baby alive. But to get a week’s worth of formula and diapers, the cost is $35, which most people don’t have. A camp typically has 30 babies at least, so around $1,000 can provide a week’s worth of basics for a family. Unfortunately, with the drop in donations lately, The Sameer Project is struggling to provide these supplies. Help us keep babies alive with just $35, donate to the Food & Water Campaign today.
What is the feeling you get after a good haircut? That’s the exact feeling that we’re trying to give boys in Gaza. The Sameer Project mobile barber point continues to do regular barber days in different parts of the Gaza Strip. On January 15th, we did 65 haircuts in the Mahaba Camp in Nuseirat, Central Gaza. This initiative was for $175 with 9% commission. We love low cost - high impact initiatives! Keep supporting our mobile barber point through the Shelter, Goods & Activities Campaign.
Even our youngest little residents of the Refaat Alareer Camp, Sawarha Camp, Batool Camp and of the surrounding area, love to attend school! We have a kindergarten for the young girls and boys to attended 5 days per week. What originally served as an opportunity for them to play and socialize, now turned into a structured kindergarten so that our camp little ones can learn their numbers, letters, and practice their fine motor skills by drawing! This is all possible thanks to your support, contribute to the Refaat Alareer Camp to keep Hasan School running smoothly! For our kindergarten students up to primary school!
This is the family of one of the ten kids who froze to deaths. The dad tried to wake Shatha, his eight year old daughter up to find her dead 💔 The military occupation is killing Palestinians in Gaza in so many different ways. There is no way we could console this family from their unfathomable loss but the least we could do is provide the rest of their kids with some warmth.
