8 months agoThe everyday worker should take the metro for free. The rich can absolutely afford it. The cruelty and greed of this world and it's so-called ELITES must end
8 months agoHis idea of fair is wrong and vibes based. You should be forced to explain what he thinks is fair. And why so that we can all see how wrong he is and laugh at him and immediately discredit this line of argument.
8 months agoThey want to run the STM at a loss to then argue that it shouldn't exist because it isn't profitable
8 months agoLike I literally do not give a fuck if someone didnt pay for their ride jfc this answer is so dumb
8 months agoIt's always the absolute dumbest mfkers seeking the wisest positions in Life. No offense to any singular individual, but there is a rampant lack of self-awareness and humility on this planet. Completely disconnected from Reality.
8 months agohomelessness rates are skyrocketing… people are starving because they cant afford basic necessities… our tax dollars are already funding genocide overseas… healthcare and social services are completely shutting down… public transit workers are treated like dogs and paid with scraps… but the issue is a few people jumping the metro. yea, ok
8 months agoIm actually glad that this is the case. What are we advocating for, more ticketing to balance the budget ??? Their main job should be to secure the metro, not to worry about who’s paying or not. Who cares? So if the metro was free you wouldn’t want security agents? Make it make sense
8 months agoGood stuff! I hadn't noticed that many inspecteurs in the stations I usually use, but then again I did move out of the metro area in September, so maybe it has increased dramatically since then. It definitely makes no sense to police people so much if the results are a handful of small fines, yikes. Especially since there are several much more glaring issues with the STM than a small loss of revenue from a fraction of the users not paying lol
8 months agoThe Stm board say they noticed an increase in unpaid fares in the last years, but let’s not forget all the grèves we had this year. One in June that lasted a week, one in September-October that lasted 2 weeks, and finally, the one in November that was supposed to last the whole month. A lot of users chose not to pay the month passes during those months because they felt they were being ripped off, wether it was for a week, 2 weeks or 4. Reminder that the grève was the only moyen de pression the STM employees could use to ask for better working conditions and salaries — it was brought up that instead of grèves, Stm employees could have ‘granted’ free transit for everyone, but there’s unfortunately a law in Quebec/ Canada that prohibits this very thing. So users were faced with the consequences of Stm & Mtl government negligence towards the Stm workers, and decided to respond with something they knew would affect the board of the Stm : not paying their fares/ monthly passes, thus creating a dent in their already deficit budget. So, I believe the very reason the Stm board have noticed an increase in unpaid fares, is because of their own negligence and abuse towards their employees. *sorry for the use of French words lol
8 months agoYou raise a very interesting question. Every single day I see people getting in the bus and the métro without paying. I wonder if this would get worse if there was less or no control.
8 months agoI am still upset the electric scooters and bikes got banned from busses and metros. Because the bus and metro lines aren’t the end point of my destination, having a bike or scooter made it easy to fill in the gaps where public transport can’t reach. I would like to lock my bike or scooter at a metro station but unfortunately since my bike was stolen off the rack, I can’t trust the racks.
8 months agoYeah uhm equity over equality you know . The only people not paying for the metro are people that literally can’t afford it . Me . I am people . Loll i got a 240$ ticket for hopping when I was literally on my way to the food bank cuz I can’t afford food . I told them and they didn’t care. Make this make sense
