Happy Opening to our FELLOW TRAVELERS family!! What a journey has it been from designing scenery for this world premiere 10 years ago at @cincinnatiopera , to launching our National Tour tonight at @seattleopera, produced by @upuntilnowcollective. #fellowtravelers is an opera about a love affair between two men working for the U.S. government in 1950s Washington, D.C., set against the terror of the Lavender Scare, when suspected queer federal employees were interrogated, surveilled, and fired as “security risks.” The story shows how state-sponsored homophobia forces them to live double lives, pits love against fear and ambition, and weaponizes religion, patriotism, and morality to justify their persecution. No one should be persecuted for their love / their sexual orientation/ their gender. Period. TOI TOI TOI to the POWERHOUSE casts & the amazing crew! 🙌 @gregoryhspears Greg Pierce @kevinnewbury @jeccabarry @gzinsmeyer @devariosimmons Thomas Hasse @saraewidzer @joebeumer @freeland @michaelbennettlewis and may may more❣️ 📷@thisisdizzle @sunnymartini
