Yesterday our founder Faustine (@thehoodwriter ) was invited onto @bbcbreakfast alongside @tvnaga and Charlie Stayt.

Faustine reflected on Ellie Gould’s story 💔 @killedwomennw and the vulnerability of 16-18 year olds. She also discussed her experience of an abusive relationship at 16 years old and why that led her to identify this gap in the law and found our campaign . On the show, Faustine emphasised the lack of urgency from the government in fulfilling their commitment of extending Relationships and Sex Education ( RSE) to 18 and the very worrying and ever increasing rates of domestic abuse among 16-19 year olds, including domestic abuse related suicides.

Education on relationships and sex is an important part of preventing violence against women and girls and preparing children and young people for the world beyond the school gates .

We have already received so many touching messages from survivors who relate to Faustine’s experience and from families who are concerned their child might be in an abusive relationship. We want to take this opportunity to signpost people to @womens_aid @refugecharity @southallblacksisters @staysafeeast and the many other organisations who support women and children ❤️
