Leadership is the ability to influence, inspire, and guide others toward a common goal, and I held every position I was given with passion, intention, and purpose.
Since freshman year at Norfolk State, I wanted to leave a lasting impression of a strong, kind, and determined leader who always got things done. I used to joke that one day there would be a building named after me. I came in with a vision to leave a legacy and impact, and I never lost sight of that.
There were long nights and days that never seemed to end. Times I doubted myself and thought I couldn’t get it done, but I persevered. These positions not only pushed me to my limits but held me accountable because I knew people were counting on me. I could not afford to quit, slow down, or lose focus. It made me who I am today, resilient, adaptable, and open-minded.
Thank you to God, my family, friends, support system and everyone who worked alongside me. A very special shoutout to the organizations that shaped me. Collegiate Midnight Golf taught me how to lead and navigate working with family. National Association of Home Builders taught me how to stay consistent even when I didn’t know what to do myself. Associated Builders and Contractors showed me how to utilize my network in ways I never thought possible. Student Government Association challenged me the most, where we worked tirelessly to serve and advocate for the entire student body, and leading at that level pushed me in ways I never expected, because serving the entire student body was bigger than me and I grew into it.
I came in wanting to leave a legacy, and I am walking away knowing I did exactly that.
