secrets out 🪽

Ice Cream Truck and my debut EP Child’s Play are out today (Friday wherever you are) and it is honestly a dream come true to have a proper body of work out in the world. Pls read all this if you can…stream Ice Cream Truck while you read if you’re a multitasker.

All my favourite artists. I remember them from their albums. Cohesive visuals and story lines and art. That’s what I wanted with Child’s Play. If you get the CD (and vinyl later) there are some cool lil surprises on it too!

If you’re still reading this long AF caption, here’s a little bit about Ice Cream Truck. I wrote it the day I heard we were playing @goodthingsfestival , I was listening to Melvins that morning and got inspired to kinda hit that grinding riff in the verse and after watching a crazy System of a Down circle pit somewhere on Instagram I was inspired to make this thrashy outro.

Lyrically and vocally I took a lot of inspo from female rage, L7, Bikini Kill, Babes In Toyland, Veruca Salt, Hole. The bridge in the song was a tribute to all these awesome women who blazed the trail in the ‘90s. I feel like there’s a lot of girls and women who are angry right now and for good reason.

Lyrically, Ice Cream Truck talks about seeing some of my friends being super boy crazy and letting that distract them from chasing their dreams. It also explores the idea of the manosphere and how a bunch of young men are being brainwashed to believe that girls owe them something.

So many women and girls are being hurt by men every day, and if you’re a dude reading this, stand up. Call out your mates if they’re being weird or gross and let’s make the world and the pit a safe and kind place for everyone x
