The United States and Iran have agreed to a temporary 2-week ceasefire after weeks of intense conflict. This deal came just before a major escalation deadline set by the U.S.
As part of the agreement, Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global oil route, while both sides pause military actions.
However, the ceasefire is not permanent. It is conditional and fragile, with both countries still having unresolved issues like security guarantees, sanctions, and regional tensions.
Iran has also made it clear that it prefers a long-term peace agreement instead of short-term ceasefires, and has set conditions such as stopping attacks and compensation for damages.
