Our Engagement Party: The Dress💍
For our all-white theme, Mauricio and I wanted to wear a different color from our guests. We thought of gold, green, brown and even blue.
I also knew I wanted to wear something vintage/archival, so I searched high and low accross every website and secondhand store I could find. Tried on many dresses and none felt perfect for the occasion… I visited every single vintage boutique in New York City with no luck, as I waited for the *feeling* of “this is MY dress” that hadn’t come.
That’s when my best friend/MOH
@luliipannun joined me in NYC for my search. We had the perfect girls day with coffee and breakfast, some real dress shopping (👰🏼♀️) and pasta. As we walked the streets of the city, we stumbled accross the last vintage store on my list. The only one I hadn’t been to because timing just hadn’t worked out.
We walked in and were immediately in awe of the selection at
@no.standing.nyc! And then… we saw the dress on the rack. Beautifully sparkly, perfectly neutral, and in my size. When I tried it on I knew that if I walked away from this dress I would regret it forever.
Decided to take it home, but the store did not accept Apple Pay (I left my wallet in the hotel, oops!) so my best friend swiped her card for me. Technically speaking, she bought me this dress! (don’t worry, I paid her back)😂
After alterations and repairs, my gown was ready for the party. Through the night, my beads scattered accross the floor, extra fabric had to be cut off, and I lost count of how many times I stepped on the tail. Still, my dress felt perfect in every way for this event I will remember forever ✨🤍
