Last day at WFYI — and I’m grateful.
Since January, I’ve been interning as a digital reporter, and it’s been one of the most real, humbling, and rewarding experiences of my life. I covered food pantry expansions, a heliport controversy, newsroom layoffs — and even sat in on the Martindale-Brightwood data center trial.
The story that meant the most to me was my piece on the Indy Indie Book Crawl, where I highlighted Black-owned bookstores in the city (s/o
@thegardenofreadin_ &
@ujamaacommunitybookstore ). I believe it’s a journalist’s job to bridge the gap between people and the information that moves our culture forward.
Along the way, I heard my voice on the radio, saw my byline on the site, and learned what it really means to meet deadlines in a real newsroom — and in all of that, I grew.
Above all else, I wanna thank God for this opportunity. Not everybody gets a chance like this, and I don’t take it lightly.
Thank you for everything, WFYI! 🎙️
