Sweet little rock wallabies dotted the cliffs on our boat tour. Bird nests, dramatic layered rock revealing tides and time, Indigenous fishing history, and fascinating medicinal flora.
Turquoise Bay is ranked #2 best beach in the world — and I can see why. Impossibly clear water, snorkelling with turtles, reef sharks, and countless coloured fish. All of us giddy from duck diving and deep breathing. Salt-drenched and sun-crisped to perfection.
Yardie Homestead was largely unpowered… but with the luxury of a concrete slab under our deck chairs. (Ooo… this is noice.)
Kingo and I made world-class hamburgers with the lot. The fact I could barely get my mouth around it says everything about our commitment to dominating the trailer park meal game.
Bright aqua bathrooms set against red dirt, with gangs of pink galahs socialising beside the vans.
That night — a breathtaking sunset.
Then hot chocolates in deck chairs, staring up at the stars.
No one missing the city.
Blissfully disconnected from tech — and reconnected to everything else.
Even the kids’ sass… mysteriously disappeared.

This feels like one of those moments you wish you could bottle — the kind that quietly resets everything 💛 From that first stretch behind the wheel to turquoise water and red earth, it sounds like you were fully in it — not rushing, not performing, just experiencing. Rock wallabies on the cliffs, reef sharks gliding past, galahs gossiping by the vans… and then finishing it off with sunset skies and stars — that’s not just a trip, that’s perspective. And something about the simple stuff hits differently out there — unpowered sites, oversized burgers, hot chocolates under the night sky. No noise, no pressure… just connection, laughter, and space to breathe. “Even the kids’ sass disappeared” might be the most convincing review of all 😄 Sounds like pure, unplugged magic.
