Ninefifty Milano Design Week 2026
Xyphonia is a collection of stools designed by @elisaossinostudio for Ninefifty and developed for @door_repubblica 'Il Giardino delle Meraviglie' as a rigorous system of twenty pieces exclusively in black and white.
The project stems from a research into the transformation of volcanic matter through geometry and chromatic subtraction, exploring the expressive potential of Etna stone when paired with vitreous finishes.
The core of the work lies in the surface treatment. The lava stone, characterized by its natural porosity, is manually coated with high-silica enamels using a stippled glazing technique.
The formal balance of the stool is defined by the sharp contrast between the volume of the top and the rigor of the structure. The seat is supported by a natural iron base, laser-cut and wax-finished—an essential graphic mark that lifts the volcanic material, lending it great visual lightness.
On stage at Palazzo Crivelli, via Pontaccio 12, until the 26th of april
