India’s telecom revolution has reached another milestone. Reliance Jio has expanded its 5G network across the country in approximately 19 months, marking one of the fastest nationwide 5G deployments globally. Now, the telecom giant is preparing for its next technological leap: 6G.

Jio began rolling out its True 5G services in October 2022, rapidly expanding connectivity across cities, towns and rural regions. The company has since emerged as India’s largest telecom operator, serving 533.3 million customers as of June 2026, including nearly 285 million 5G users. Its network now carries more than 60% of India’s wireless data traffic.

The scale of India’s digital consumption is equally striking. According to Reliance Industries, Jio’s network handled a staggering 241.4 billion GB of data during FY2025-26, reflecting the country’s growing dependence on digital connectivity for entertainment, education, business and everyday communication. Average monthly data consumption per Jio customer reached 43.7 GB in the April-June 2026 quarter.

But Jio is already looking beyond 5G. Akash Ambani has outlined plans to introduce 6G using software-driven upgrades to existing network infrastructure, potentially reducing the need for extensive hardware replacement. The company is investing in next-generation network technologies, with more than 6,800 patent applications filed globally across areas including 4G, 5G, 6G, cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence.

With Jio Platforms preparing for its landmark IPO, the company is positioning itself as more than a telecom operator, aiming to become a major player in India’s AI-powered digital future. From making mobile data affordable to preparing for 6G, Jio’s next challenge is turning its massive connectivity infrastructure into the foundation of India’s next digital transformation.

Neighbors, A family is dealing with heartbreak as they prepare to bury their two young sons. Authorities say the bodies of Elijah Khalil Hawkins, 5, and Kashh Kendrell Williams, 3, were recovered from a pond on Saturday. The discovery followed reports that the children went missing after leaving their Daytona Beach home. Police Chief Jakari Young said investigators believe the deaths were accidental and that there is no indication of foul play.

Young said their mother fed the children Saturday afternoon before lying down for a brief nap. When she woke up, both boys — along with the family dog — had managed to slip outside of the apartment.

He said quote “She woke up approximately 15 minutes later, and the kids, as well as the family dog, had gotten out of the apartment. She does have a child safety lock on the door, so apparently, they figured out how to navigate that child safety lock, and they exited the apartment.”

Surveillance video obtained by police shows the two boys running near the pond before entering the water. Their mother is seen on the video coming outside moments later.

While Young believes the deaths were accidental, he said the question of whether the mother will face criminal charges remains unanswered. Young said the department has turned its entire case over to the State Attorney’s Office, which has the authority to make that determination.

A GoFundMe has launched in memory of the boys and to support their family. More than $10,000 has been raised.
