My past 10 weeks have been a journey. 4 personal bests over 5 different disciplines, but the wheels finally fell off the wagon at the final stage: 23rd August - Ironman 70.3 Tallinn 04:46:53 PB ✅ 12th September - 10km Wicklow 38:51 PB ✅ 20th September - Half Marathon Dublin 01:26:46 PB ✅ 17th October - Full Ironman Cascais 10:48:01 PB ✅ 1st November - Marathon New York City 03:37:52 ❌ I’ve asked a lot of my body already this year and I’m actually just grateful I didn’t completely break down or get badly injured. I love this world of endurance sport because there’s always room for improvement which is great for personal motivation, but in reality nobody actually cares about your times. New York marathon was genuinely my favourite out of all of these events even though it was my worst performance, and it’s because of the inspiring people that I got to run alongside and also the ridiculous crowds that supported all day for every single runner. I literally smiled the whole way around while shuffling to the finish line. For now I need to rest and take care of my body and wife @jeannioshea because they have taken such good care of me these last few weeks 🫶
