اکبر عبدی آقاباقر ۴ شهریور ۱۳۳۹ از پدری اردبیلی و مادری تهرانی در محله نازی‌آباد (تهران) به دنیا آمد. وی اصالتاً اهل روستای آقاباقر اردبیل بود و در ۸ دی ۱۳۹۴ از سوی رئیس شورای شهر اردبیل به او کلید ط//لایی اردبیل تقدیم شد.
او از سال ۱۳۵۸ با دریافت مدرک دیپلم با نمایش‌های آماتوری فعالیت هنری‌اش را آغاز کرد و سپس از سال ۱۳۶۱ به تلویزیون رفت و به نقش‌آفرینی در موضوعات مختلفی پرداخت. اکبر عبدی سپس در سال ۱۳۶۳ با فیلم جنجال بزرگ بازی در سینما را آغاز کرد و پس از آن در فیلم‌های مردی که موش شد، اجاره نشین‌ها، گراند سینما و ای ایران توانست قابلیت‌های خود را در نقشهای کمدی ثابت کند. نوع چهره عبدی و بازی‌های او به قدری در زمینهٔ کمدی منحصر به‌فرد بود که حتی در فیلم مادر در نقش معلول و در فیلم سفر جادویی در دو نقش میانسالی و کودکی اش ظاهر شد و توانست به محبوبیت خوبی در میان مخاطبان سینمایی دست پیدا کند، این امر حتی در فیلم‌های دلشدگان و آقای شانس هم مشهود بود. عبدی را بیشتر به خاطر بازی‌های کمدی و طنز می‌شناختند.

A seventy-year-old widower answers a video job posting, and the internship nobody took seriously becomes the friendship an entire company needed. The Intern (2015) is Nancy Meyers's warmhearted workplace gem, the comedy that paired Robert De Niro's endless patience with Anne Hathaway's frazzled brilliance and quietly became one of the most rewatched feel-good films of its decade.

The mood is old-school grace meeting startup chaos. De Niro's Ben Whittaker, retired, widowed, and allergic to idleness, joins a booming Brooklyn fashion site as a senior intern, armed with a briefcase, a pressed suit, and the radical superpower of simply paying attention. His boss, Hathaway's Jules Ostin, is the founder running on four hours of sleep, biking through her own office, and fighting investors who want an experienced CEO to replace her at the company she built from her kitchen. The film's magic lives in the slow trust between them: Ben clearing the infamous cluttered desk at dawn, the caper-movie break-in to delete an accidental email to Jules's mother, and the quiet hotel room conversation where a man who lost his life partner tells a woman losing her footing exactly what she needs to hear. Meyers directs it all in her signature cozy perfection, sunlit lofts and cashmere wisdom, while sneaking in a genuinely progressive thesis: experience and ambition are not rivals, and the handkerchief exists so you can lend it. This is comfort storytelling with a spine, kindness played as competence.

What makes it a must-see is Ben himself, the internet's favorite fictional mentor, proof that showing up, listening well, and believing in someone remains the rarest skill in any workplace.
