Spotlight on this year’s Christmas commercialProbably one of my funniest jobs of 2024.Fully fed my nerd neurosis 🤓For this project, I had the renewed trust of the boss @ijjnelis He went for a challenging and engaging cinematographic approach, convincing everyone we could achieve a single continuous shot traveling through the set and ending with a crane takeoff.He asked me to create the lightest and easiest @arri Alexa35 build. It needed to be as lightweight and operator-friendly as possible since we were going to rehearse and shoot for multiple hours.We decided to go full @pataldingerdp style.Since the official supplier of its great custom elements was no longer operating, I had to come up with alternatives, collecting parts across Brussels.I finally opted for a combination of the lightest Alexa35 Top Plate: the UAP-3, 2x 3/8 to Arri Rosette @tiltamax Nucleus M Hand Grip Adapters, and a pair of modular blue handles.For operation, I used an RMB-8 and an old Alexa Mini Viewfinder Crosspipe, on which I attached the Monitor EVF Adapter from @hel_gear.The cherry on top was using the trusty and amazing @smallhd Ultra 5 as the on-board monitor, providing instant access to Arri False Color tools.All the cables were custom-made to keep the build as clean as possible.To reduce the weight, the camera was almost completely stripped down. I removed: the Top Handle, Side Brackets (CSB-1R/1L), Bottom Plate (BUD-1), and Power Distribution Module (PDM-1).Power was supplied by @bebobbatteries, and the @vaxis_global Storm 3000 Video Transmitter was relocated to a custom power backpack carried by the operator.Gear, help, laughter, and coffee were generously supplied by friends at @miracam.be Special thanks to @tsfbelgique and @lucas.ruyssen for the extra support. by @romainroobaert

FAST LIFE BY @martha.daro [ 05/2023 ] - Music VideoThrowback on a challenging shoot we shot months ago for belgian singer Marta with the help of @panavisionofficial BelgiumIt was my first time pulling for @samuelesselinckx who used to be my boss back when I was doing 2nd AC. I thank him for the trust and the opportunity As usual, he went for a rich and challenging cinematography, exploring different methods and using every aspect of his art to its fullest potential For this one, he asked me to create several builds, some needed to be extremely lightweight to give him what he needed to go run and gun and other required more complexe setups For one shot he wanted to be able to rotate a camera located inside a car while traveling out of the window. As a Lambda head would not have been able to fit through, he went for using the legendary Frazier Lens System from Panavision This system invented by Australian cinematographer Jim Frazier, gives you uncommon deep depth of field in addition to the useful ability to rotate your image thanks to a rotatable prism connected to a 0.8 pitch ring without hard stop compatible with focus motors I attached an @arri Cforce Mini from my kit on it and gave the control to Samuel with a @cmotionlcs SteadyzoomOnly an @oconnorsupport head would have been able to support this massive setup, which it did smoothly Power by @bebobbatteries by @romainroobaert

WINTER COLLECTION 2023 - E5 MODE[ 08/2023 ] - CommercialWith the help of my buddies at @luckycameras , we build a custom bracket for my Ratworks top handle allowing me to remove EVF, Monitor, Top Handle, Battery Plate, everything in one screwPit stop kind of vibe 🏎️These build was made possible thanks to the amazing parts engined by @ratworksengineering It was that day the first time I was using them, they never left me since ! As always shoutout to the great job at @arri_pca to produce brackets that never fails me and give me the opportunity to create everything I want by @romainroobaert
