An invitation to compose music for a stage adaptation of "The Master and Margarita" took an unexpected turn when @fredriksaroea was also asked to portray Woland, Satan himself, despite having never acted before.

What began as a theater commission ultimately evolved into a cinematic, atmospheric album far removed from both @datarock_official's dance-punk sound and Saroea’s earlier solo work.

We spoke with Fredrik about composing for theater, stepping onto the stage as an actor, transforming the music into a standalone album, and the enduring relevance of "The Master and Margarita."
