An initial proposal for bringing a sense of authentic colonial character to a midcentury home, following a recent addition proposal by a local firm. The goal was to create a more cohesive relationship between the original house and the additions through proportion, classical detailing, and materials. Cedar shake siding was proposed to replace the original aluminum siding and unify the house so the additions feel more integrated with the original structure. The columns were also reworked with more appropriate classical proportions to give them a greater sense of permanence and sturdiness.
