There's nothing easy about a creature who is delicate both inside and out, considered exotic from a veterinary standpoint, and a 10-12-year commitment. We've normalized neglect and abuse with hutches, cages, and the products we allow to be sold on pet store shelves. Rabbits are a high-maintenance, costly, long-term commitment and they deserve better 🖤

One of my family member’s friends wanted to get one for her five year old granddaughter. I had to explain to her why that wasn’t such a good idea. They may be cute, but they’re a LOT of work and responsibility. Plus, a young child may unintentionally hurt the animal, or get bitten while trying to play with it :’)

No bun should be neglected! All should be free roam doing zoomies and big binkies 💕💕🥰🐰

Literally. They're more work than my dog and 4 cats! Not an "easy starter pet" like some people think.

I own a rabbit and it’s not as bad as the “rabbit experts” said

It's one of the hardest pets to have and absolutely not for children! They almost made mine unable to move. Not a day passes that i thank all the gods I adopted him from that hell

No no no. They are easy ONCE you know what ya need to do😂 it's not a perfect first time pet, no BUT they are easy once you know what they need and what to do. When I got shadow (5 years ago) I OVERLY did it and was not happy about it. Now that I know what he likes, what he wants and how much space makes HIM comfortable, it got very easy. When I got Judy (had to re-home her bcz of my mother) she was not very easy as she want not handled AT ALL and would literally bit anything and everything around her. Once I figured out she enjoyed her space and alone time (hated other bunnies and would actively fight) she got pretty easy as well. I think it just depends the rabbit itself rather than assuming all bunnies are 'hard'. I was given (rather they abandoned them with me) a semi bonded pair and one did not like being touched AT ALL. Brushing her, clipping nails, cleaning cage, etc was extremely difficult. After a lot of treats and giving her space/taking things out, she was still semi aggressive. I realized bcz I had other bunnies, she did not like the fact the my attention was divided and that she was actually bonded with her sister so I had to re home both SEPARATELY! (The non bunny was a lion head mix and the very nice one was a big lop.)
