Today, on the International Day of the Boy Child, I’m sharing slides from my film, Le Paris de Bolaji (Bolaji’s Balls) for the very first time. 💙
This story is personal to me. It follows a young, ambitious man navigating the reality of prostate cancer while unlearning everything he thought he knew about the disease and understanding that young men need to have more conversations about health, vulnerability, and awareness, not just surface-level conversations about sex and masculinity.
As Men’s Month approaches, I’m excited to share that Bolaji’s Balls will be available to watch throughout June, and I’ll be posting the viewing link soon.
What started as an idea became something far bigger than me. From festival selections to cinema screenings, from meaningful conversations with students and health advocates to reaching audiences across West Africa, this journey has been unforgettable. I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to screen the film during its post-production and marketing phase in partnership with Miva Open University and the Nigerian Cancer Society, connecting with the Public Health Department and helping spark important conversations around prostate cancer awareness among young people.
The film was dubbed in both French and English with even more reach across the French speaking west African audience through support of Askanwii Film Hub.
And personally? This is my first film as an executive producer, producer, and writer. I learned so much through this experience creatively, emotionally, professionally. A huge pat on my back for doing the thing I said I would do. Onward from here.
Thank you to every single person who poured their heart into this project.
