Ektaa Kapoor alleges “Hinduphobia” in Bollywood, says Hindu mythology still faces judgement
Producer Ektaa Kapoor has spoken out against what she described as “so much of Hinduphobia” in the entertainment industry, claiming that wearing religious symbols and discussing Hindu folklore and mythology can invite judgement.

During a conversation with podcaster Ranveer Allahabadia on The Ranveer Show, the Balaji Telefilms head discussed her upcoming film The Vvaan, which draws inspiration from folklore.

Kapoor also said she was happy when people compared the film’s look to a television serial, calling television “the staple food of India”.
Her remarks have reignited the conversation around the portrayal of Hindu mythology and religious themes in Bollywood.

Two essays in two days?! IT’S BEHIND A PAYWALL!!! $8/month. Excerpt below

“But y’all don’t want to learn, though. That’s why y’all come into liberation spaces and fuck them up. That’s why y’all constantly steal from Black women. That’s why y’all can’t be out in the streets protesting in a meaningful, long-lasting way. That’s why y’all can’t boycott Meta while critiquing AI. That’s why y’all are fake as fuck, and that’s why this shit will never get better. And that’s why I remain an absurdist.

But also: I know it will get better when we learn the relational skills to build community that has an infrastructure of care, community that does not depend on white people or the state to save us. That is what I have seen evident in my own life.”
