I honestly wasn't sure I'd ever get to the point of my simple design sketches morphing into hand carved 3-D wax models, then being lost wax cast into silver and gold.
It's been something I've been seriously working towards for ✨ 9 years✨in my business 🫠 But was exposed to it back in 2004 in college (look, I still wear the leopard print silver cast ring I made in 2004 as a reminder...every day 🐆).
Carved and cast is such a pivot from my hand fabricated work, and my custom hand fabricated queue is always full (a good problem to have!). Carving time out (no pun intended) between custom projects/homeschooling/admin work/life for wax & casting practice, play, and learning was a constant struggle.
In late summer of 2024, I had some things happen in my life that made me realize it's GO-TIME! It has to be now. Just do it! Talk to the fellow wax carvers. Take the extra classes. Buy the less complicated equipment. Make the time. Dive into YouTube. Change the business model and weekly schedule to allow for it. Find an encouraging group of friends and clients to cheer you on for this change. Support networks are everything. And then go unhinged 🤣🤟 It's taken me 18 months. And I'm finally ready.
