Futuro Desierto is officially out today on Netflix. They say you always remember your first.
Back in December 2023, I was at my agent’s posada and said out loud that I wanted to book a Netflix series. Less than a month later, I got the call to play Mark Seles in Futuro Desierto.
Talk about a lesson in manifestation. It taught me to ask the universe for exactly what you want—out loud, without hesitation—and then do the heavy lifting so you’re ready when it actually shows up.
Lately, I keep thinking about the version of me back in New York—grinding through survival jobs, grueling auditions, educational films, student films, reenactment videos, and some truly terrible music videos just to stay working. I think about the heartbreaks too: missing out on that big Peroni commercial, or worse, thinking I finally got my break only to sit in a theater and realize I’d been completely cut from the final edit.
Through every roadblock, I tried staying committed to the craft, trusting that if I kept pushing, eventually the shift would come and it finally did just not in NY or LA.
There’s a beautiful irony in leaving the U.S. to finally experience "success." But honestly, it feels connected to a much longer lineage. I think about artists like James Baldwin and Josephine Baker—Black creatives who had to step outside of America to fully expand, create, and truly be seen.
So yeah… this one hits different. It's my first job on a Netflix series.
Big love to my agency and my agent—the absolute Ari to my Vince iykyk. Thank you for always pushing and believing in me, even over conversations with mezcal at a posada.
And Mexico City… thank you. You’re more than a small part of the story, you're the story itself, te amo. This is where I’ve built a life that makes me soar. The friendships, the chaos, the growth, the inspiration, the everyday moments—I love my life here, and that’s the real gift in all of this.
I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me before and those who continue to do so Can't wait to do you proud. Like Nipsey said,"The marathon continues!"
