Donkey is one of the most beloved characters in DreamWorks’ Shrek franchise, voiced by Eddie Murphy. Introduced in the original 2001 film, Donkey is a relentlessly talkative, energetic, and loyal companion who befriends Shrek despite the ogre’s attempts to get rid of him. His nonstop jokes, singing, and inability to respect personal space make him a perfect contrast to Shrek’s grumpy personality. One surprising fact is that Donkey falls in love with a dragon, and they eventually have six hybrid children called Dronkeys, combining donkey and dragon features. Eddie Murphy’s energetic voice performance helped turn Donkey into one of animation’s most recognizable comic sidekicks. He’s also responsible for some of the franchise’s funniest moments, proving that sometimes the most annoying friend is also the one who will never abandon you. Like this content?
