Every time she visited her dad, she’d end up at the nearest drive-thru on her way home.

She was caring for her sick father despite their rocky relationship, but every visit left her feeling like she couldn’t do anything right.

Nothing she did for him was right in his eyes.

She’d fight back tears while stocking his fridge and washing his clothes, then stop at a drive-thru and binge before getting home.

For months, food was the only thing that helped her numb her worst fear:

That she wasn’t good enough.

She thought she lacked willpower around food.

But that’s never really where the work is.

The work was helping her separate her worth from her father’s opinions.

It was recognizing what was happening beneath the urge to binge.

It was learning to sit through the discomfort of feeling criticized without needing to escape it.

Because maybe your dad isn’t the trigger.

Maybe it’s your husband.

Your boss.

Your mother.

Or anyone who leaves you questioning your worth.

Once we uncovered the pain food had been helping her survive, everything started to change.

She learned how to process her emotions instead of numbing them.

She learned how to feel the fear that she wasn’t good enough without needing to make it go away.

And before she knew it, she stopped using her dad’s words as proof of who she was.

She never binged on her way home from her dad’s again.

Or at all, for that matter.

The work we did together had little to do with food, but everything to do with what was underneath her need to self-soothe.

Because that’s the work it takes to become free as fuck around food.

DM or comment “HOURS” if you’re ready to uncover what’s actually driving your binges.
