British Masters 2026 recap
🏆British Champion
🏴 English Record Holder
Squats
212kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️
222.5kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️
227.5kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️ (+2.5kg PB) 🎉
Squats are always the lift that keeps me humble.
Opener felt a bit rough but moved well. 2nd was harder than expected. Thankfully Coach spotted that my setup was slightly off-centre.
A few adjustments later and 3rd attempt felt rock solid
🏆 227.5kg
🏆 2.5kg PB
Ironically it moved better than the second attempt! I’ll happily take the PB - it’s fair to say there’s more to come.
➡️ 230kg next time.
Bench Press
155kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️
165kg 🔴🔴🔴
165kg 🔴🔴🔴
Bench didn’t quite go to plan.
Having competed at World Bench a week earlier, I probably got a little ambitious chasing another PB
160kg was probably the smarter call, but I’m still pleased I backed myself and went for it.
Deadlifts
250kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️
272.5kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️ (+2.5kg PB)
277.5kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️ (+7.5kg PB) 🚀
Deadlifts stayed loyal.
The opener flew, and from that moment I knew there was something big available.
272.5kg gave me a small PB & still moved well, so we rolled the dice one last time.
277.5kg.
The perfect call from Coach.
I told myself one thing before I stepped to the bar:
“Keep pulling. No matter what.”
The bar flew to my knees, then hit the wall. Everything slowed down. Then it was just a battle of willpower.
I kept pulling with everything I had & managed to grind it all the way to lockout.
There wasn’t another kilo left in me.
One of the most satisfying lifts I’ve ever completed.
Final Total: 660kg 💪
🥇 1st Place
🏆 British Champion
📈 +10kg Total PB
🏴 660kg also surpasses the previous English record, meaning I now officially hold the highest total in the M1 83kg class & can call myself the English record holder.
That means a lot.
I didn’t just want to win. I wanted to leave the platform knowing I had become stronger than before & put together a performance worthy of the title.
🇬🇧 After checking the British records too, this is also the biggest total rec
