a month agoMany people think coming to Christ diminishes your personality and style, but I believe knowing God actually enhances it. The problem is, we conflate what is actually a freedom in Christ with sin. This is what hinders us from truly expressing ourselves in our own unique contexts, whilst still glorifying God. Thanks for sharing Chanda 🔥🔥🔥
a month agoGosh… Chanda I love this so much. It has reminded me of the Christian hip hop and Afro gospel movement that was shunned upon in the beginning because it didn’t sound ‘Christian enough.’ They likes of Lecrae, TripLee , KB to mention but a few had to stand their ground in authenticity and faith just for them to establish this sound we hear and love today (though it is still met with skepticism today). Also when Kirk Franklin started people thought his music was not churchy too which just makes you wonder what exactly church sound is because if we were to use a microscopic lens to view the entire argument of what Christian art is and what isn’t, then it’s important to also note that genres like Soul and RnB (famous secular genres) come from the African American Churches. Further, i love how you’ve highlighted the emerging Christian Alt pop sound and why it needs to be embraced, highlighting how our personalities and art expressions as believers are not monolithic and should not be categorized as such. 🤍
