NAPOLI. 35 mm. Negative Film

In December, we traveled to Barcelona for the launch of Niceshit’s rebrand. Since we were already nearby, we headed to Italy. Ever since Ufficio began, Italy has appeared again and again in our references — in design, architecture, graphic culture, and in our own roots. We went to Naples and never felt more at home: the noise, cars parked three rows deep, peeling facades, laundry hanging from balconies, improvised shrines, Diego everywhere, espresso drunk standing at the bar, and the feeling that nothing is trying to be liked. We didn’t see specialty coffee shops or curated experiences. We spent our days drinking tiny espressos, wandering without a plan, and eating entire pizzas. Some cities carefully craft an image of themselves. Naples seems to do exactly the opposite. There is something deeply beautiful about a city that still trusts its own rules. We took a train to Pompeii and climbed Mount Vesuvius. We’ve always been fascinated by volcanoes: their beauty, their threat, and their ability to remind us that everything that seems permanent can disappear in an instant.
