Reading an immune panel starts before the result. Here are four things worth understanding first.

1. Reactivity ≠ presence.
A marker showing up doesn’t mean your body is doing anything about it. Reactivity is the story. Presence is just the cast list.

2. Sample type matters more than people think.
Serum, plasma, saliva, stool — they’re not interchangeable windows into the same room. Each one answers a slightly different question, and the wrong sample can give you a clean answer to a question you never asked.

3. Your body doesn’t see cooked and raw as the same food.
Heat changes protein structure. A panel that tests one form and not the other is telling you a partial story. Cooked chicken and raw chicken are, immunologically speaking, two different conversations.

4. Polyreactivity isn’t junk data.
When “everything” lights up, the instinct is to throw out the panel. But a broad reaction pattern is information — about the sample, the assay, or what’s happening upstream. Wide isn’t the same as wrong.

The panel isn’t a verdict. It’s a snapshot with a very specific set of conditions attached — and the conditions are half the result.
