Nearly 20 lakh students appeared for the re-examination conducted on June 21 across 5,440 centres in 551 Indian cities and 14 international locations. The examination was offered in 13 languages.
Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana emerged as the joint toppers after scoring 715 marks out of 720. According to the NTA, 19 candidates scored above 700 marks, while 138 students secured more than 690.
A total of 1,492 candidates scored at least 650 marks, while 10,160 students crossed the 600-mark mark. More than 90,000 candidates obtained 500 marks or above.
Female candidates made up over 58% of those who qualified and recorded a higher success rate than male candidates. The NTA also said that more than 93% of the top 138 performers were appearing for NEET for the first time.
Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of successful candidates, with more than 1.7 lakh students qualifying. Lakshadweep had the lowest number, with 43 candidates clearing the examination.
Category-wise, over 5.12 lakh OBC-NCL candidates qualified, followed by 2.91 lakh candidates from the General category. Around 1.59 lakh Scheduled Caste and 63,716 Scheduled Tribe candidates also cleared the test.
The results were released after the NTA published the final answer key. During evaluation, the agency revised two Physics questions. One question was dropped, while two options were accepted as correct for another, resulting in eight additional marks being awarded under the evaluation rules.
Qualified candidates can now participate in counselling for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other undergraduate medical programmes. The Medical Counselling Committee will conduct admissions for the 15% All India Quota, while state authorities will handle the remaining seats.
Students have been advised to rely only on official websites for counselling updates and avoid fake admission offers or messages seeking money and personal information.
