It’s time! I’m officially learning how to cook all the dishes I grew up loving. And we’re starting with something super easy because, bueno, por algo se empieza. Carne encebollada con tomate Ingredients: ● Thinly sliced steak ● 1 tsp cumin ● 1 tsp salt ● Black pepper, to taste ● Paprika ● Worcestershire sauce ● Garlic, minced ● 1 onion, sliced ● Tomatoes, chopped ● ½ cup beef broth (I used chicken broth!) ● Oil for cooking Instructions: 1. Season your steak with cumin, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. Let it marinate for 10 minutes. 2. Heat a little oil in a skillet and sear the steak for about 30 seconds per side. Remove and set aside. 3. In the same skillet, add your sliced onions and cook for about 10 minutes until softened. 4. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, then add your tomatoes. Let everything cook until the tomatoes soften and release their juices. 5. Pour in ½ cup of broth and let the sauce simmer for a few minutes. 6. Add the steak back into the skillet and let it finish cooking in the sauce until cooked through. Plátanos maduros Peel and slice ripe yellow plantains diagonally. Fry in oil over medium heat until golden and caramelized on both sides. Remove and sprinkle with a little salt if desired. Patacones 1. Peel green plantains and cut into thick pieces. 2. Fry until lightly golden and softened. 3. Remove and flatten each piece using two board or if you want a pataconera or the bottom of a plate. 4. Fry again until golden and crispy. 5. Sprinkle with salt and serve immediately. Served everything with arrocito blanco, cilantro y aguacate. qué delicia 🤤 Now I need my Colombians to help me out. Leave your suggestions in the comments because I have A LOT to learn. #ColombianFood #ComidaColombiana #ColombianRecipes #Colombiana #CookingAtHome

Everything seasoning belongs in sourdough. 🥑🍞 Especially when the next morning’s breakfast is avocado toast topped with hard boiled eggs, crumbled bacon, and a little salt and pepper. That crisp crust and soft middle were made for this. For these two large loaves, I added 40g of everything seasoning to my double batch. That’s 20g per loaf, with 600g of flour in each loaf. For a smaller loaf, try starting with 10g and adjust to your taste. I mixed mine in while mixing the dough so it was easy to distribute, but you can also fold it in during your stretch and folds. Want seasoning on the outside, too? After shaping, lightly mist the loaf with water and coat it with everything seasoning before placing it in your banneton. Keep the salt in your seasoning blend in mind. You may want to reduce the salt in your dough, especially if you’re coating the outside, too. Save this for your next sourdough bake! What would you put on your first slice? 🤍 #Sourdough #EverythingSourdough #AvocadoToast #HomemadeBread #SourdoughBaking
