‼️RACE REPORT‼️
RCR x Alta Via Goodwood Handicap
Over 90 riders across several categories who were rubbing shoulders with ex- pros Ed Clancy and Alex Dowsett, set off from the pit lane on Tuesday 14th July in the annual handicap race.
Ewan Cook who started off in the 4th Cat group took advantage of his recent good form, breaking away early to ride solo for 3 laps. However, he was eventually caught by the chasing 3rd Cat bunch which included his team mate, Jack Davies and the duo then worked together in the bunch.
With so many riders on the track including some big names, it was a pacy ride with a strong headwind along the back straight. The last lap was punchy with a lot of movement on track, making it difficult to move up through the pack.
With the Elite riders hitting the run up to the chicane hard, Jack and Ewan dug in and crossed the line with the main bunch, Ewan finishing as the best placed 4th Cat rider.
Ewan, who is usually more at home on a MTB course, says “It was a huge learning curve but I really enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to the gravel race at Goodwood and doing more circuit races with the team before the end of the season and hope to get my 3rd Cat licence”
