It was lovely to welcome Macmillan Cancer Support to Ryde Pier recently for a couple of coffee mornings in support of their fantastic work. Pictured is Penelope Nettleton, Macmillan Cancer Information Nurse Specialist, who is also a Ryde resident – bringing a lovely local connection to the event. Thanks to the generosity of our customers, staff and amazing suppliers, who kindly donated cakes, an incredible £492.04 was raised over the two days! The money will help Macmillan to continue to provide vital support to people living with cancer, including information and advice, emotional support and practical help. Macmillan's Coffee Morning brings people together across the UK to raise money and awareness, helping to ensure that nobody faces cancer alone. A huge thank you to everyone who supported the events, donated cakes or stopped by for a cuppa. Every contribution makes a difference! 💚 @macmillancancer #WightlinkInTheCommunity #MacmillanCoffeeMorning #IsleOfWight #CommunitySupport by @wightlinkcommunity
It’s been a fantastic year for Isle of Wight underwater hockey player Sam Speake, who is part of the Isle of Wight Talented Athlete Scheme, proudly sponsored by Wightlink. Sam represented Great Britain at the U19 World Championships in Turkey this summer, playing 13 games, scoring his first international goal and picking up two Man of the Match awards. GB finished sixth overall, following some tough competition against the world's best. Closer to home, Sam also helped the Isle of Wight team secure silver at Nautilus 2026, one of the UK's biggest underwater hockey competitions. With preparations already underway for the next World Championships in Australia in 2028, there's plenty more to come! Well done, Sam. We're looking forward to seeing what you #powerdeviceuk @iowcouncil #WightlinkInTheCommunity #TalentedAthleteScheme #UnderwaterHockey #IsleOfWight #PowerDeviceUK by @wightlinkcommunity
A huge congratulations to Talented Athlete Juliet, who recently represented the Isle of Wight Underwater Hockey team at Nautilus, the UK’s largest national underwater hockey competition. After winning bronze in Division 4 last year, the team returned stronger than ever, battling their way through a series of tough matches to finish undefeated and take home the silver medals! 🥈 With impressive wins against strong opposition, including Team Scotland, and a nail-biting final match, Juliet and her teammates showed incredible skill - and determination! At Wightlink in the Community, we’re proud to support Island talent and celebrate their success – both in and out of the water! 🌊 Well done, Juliet and the whole Isle of Wight team. What an achievement! 👏 #WightlinkInTheCommunity #IsleOfWight #UnderwaterHockey #ProudtoSupport #Teamwork Isle of Wight Council Sports Development Unit @iowcouncil by @wightlinkcommunity
Since 1996, we have been proud to support generations of Isle of Wight cyclists, helping local talent compete and achieve success at regional, national and international level through our sponsorship of what is now known as Wightlink CRT. The team would not be where is it is without the support of countless volunteers, support from Island businesses and of course the talented cyclists themselves. Over the years, we have been delighted to support the team with cross-Solent travel to help them access competitions and events on the mainland. Three decades on, Wightlink CRT is looking to the future, inspiring the next generation of young riders and helping them develop their skills. Brilliant racing from @wightlinkcrt's youngest riders! Last weekend Ayrton, just five, took on his very first cyclo-cross race, finishing an impressive 11th in the Under 8s, while older brother Finley battled back from a crash and damaged gears to secure a fantastic 4th place in a highly competitive Under 10s field. As proud sponsors of the Wightlink Cycling Race Team, we are delighted to support young local talent – who are certainly putting the Isle of Wight on the map! Well done, Ayrton and Finley! #WightlinkInTheCommunity #WightlinkCRT #CycloCross #IslandTalent 📸 Pitchside Photo by @wightlinkcommunity
