🎉⛴️ Happy 17th Anniversary to Wight Ryder I & Wight Ryder II! 💙

Today marks 17 years since our FastCat twins entered service on the Portsmouth Harbour-Ryde Pier Head route, helping connect the Isle of Wight and mainland communities every day.

Since 29 September 2009, these high-speed catamarans have carried millions of passengers across the Solent, from daily commuters and students to holidaymakers, families and Island residents heading off on their next adventure. 🌊

A few FastCat facts:
⛴️ They can cross the Solent in just 22 minutes
👥 Each vessel can carry up to 260 passengers
🚲 There's space for 20 bicycles on board, and bikes travel free
🌍 Built in Cebu, Philippines, they're part of our third generation of FastCats

But beyond the statistics, Wight Ryder I and II have been part of countless journeys, reunions, celebrations, holidays and everyday moments over the last 17 years. 💙

🌌✨ Have you ever been stargazing on the Isle of Wight?

With some of the darkest skies in the UK, the Island is a fantastic place to look up and marvel at the night sky. 💙

One of the best spots is along the south-west coast near the Military Road, where low levels of light pollution make it easier to spot stars, constellations and even the Milky Way on a clear night. 🌠

For the best experience:

⭐ Choose a clear night with little or no moonlight
🧺 Bring a blanket or camping mat
🧥 Wrap up warm and pack a hot drink
🔭 Take a star guide and see what you can spot

There's something magical about lying under a sky full of stars and enjoying the peace and quiet of the Island after dark.

Men travelling with us who may experience urinary incontinence can discreetly request support by going to any customer service point or retail outlet at our ports or on board and asking for ‘a package for Alan’.

You will be given a small blue envelope containing a male incontinence pad and a disposal bag. ✉️

We have also added Bins for Boys, one cubicle in each male toilet has been equipped with a disposal bin, clearly marked with a ‘Bins for Boys’ notice on the door. This ensures those who require the facility can find it discreetly and easily. 🗑️

Shout out to The Isle of Wight Prostate Cancer Support Group who are a dedicated team of volunteers work across the Island, providing education, testing, and support to men affected by prostate cancer – as well as to their partners and families. ❤️
