Recently, I found out that one of my worst nightmares could become a true possibility: an AI data center in the county I have lived in my entire life.
The local town hall held a public hearing about it, so I attended.
Previously, I had five pages written as a speech, but once I learned that I only had two minutes, I had to cut it down a bit, so I did my best.
My voice shook, my heart was racing, and it’s obvious I was nervous to speak in front of that many people, but this was too important to me.
I do not want to see an AI data center be built in the place I grew up in, and I’m not the only one.
So many more people showed up than I thought there would be, and I thank every person who did, because we ended up getting a 3 year moratorium on this data center. Of course, I don’t want to see it being built at all, but this is progress, and it’s because of the people.
Please, if you have the chance, show up to your local town hall, protest, sign petitions, call your elected officials, and stop the building of AI data centers in the places that people call home.
Your voice matters, and this is proof of that.

Amazing. Keep up the pressure, community backlash is causing a lot of data centres to be halted. please keep showing up. Here is more ammo for you. A study published by the US National Library of Medicine states what damage noise pollution has on your health, including heart disease and other chronic issues. This is no joke.
