5 days before Hyrox, I caught Influenza A.
High fever. Body aches. Blocked nose. Endless coughing. It felt almost identical to COVID-19.
The doctor told me to rest, and for a moment, I thought race day was over before it even began.
So I listened. I stayed in bed. Took every dose of medication. Slept more than I had in weeks. Recovery became the training. Almost impossible for me to race.
Today, I stood on the start line anyway.
Sharing this Women’s Doubles race with Mimi (@globalmfk2 ) made it even more meaningful.
She has been there since my day 1—when I had no idea about Hyrox. We’ve come a long way together, and watching her get stronger while pushing each other through the race reminded me why I love this sport.
She’s an absolute beast. Love you Mimi!
Not every finish line is about setting a personal best. Sometimes, it’s about making it there at all. And today, that was more than enough ❤️
