Not every caterpillar turns into a butterfly, and not every #caterpillar is an oak processionary moth.

We find this *Lymantria dispar* right in the middle of Berlin, with no oaks in the vicinity.

We collected the caterpillars as thoroughly as possible to make the event location usable again.

The different sizes and colors indicate the stage of development.

we find #OPM and #gypsymoth also in the sames trees, even in the same nest. But the gypsy moth is usually more widely distributed and does not form groups, they can also rappel down like Spider-Man. Lymantria dispar are also not quite as highly allergenic as OPN.

We'll see what else makes its way to us in Berlin next year. I heard that the eastern pine processionary have already been spotted 😵‍💫
Fortunately, we don't have that many pine trees and almost no monocultures around Berlin.......🐛
