Plot twist…
The healthiest version of me isn’t the skinniest version of me.
The first picture is a guy who was drinking too much, depressed, had no structure, and wasn’t taking care of himself.
The second picture looks like a success story… and in a lot of ways it was. I was one year sober and proud of the work I’d put in.
But what you couldn’t see was that I was starving myself, obsessing over the scale, and still dealing with body image.
Today I’m 10 pounds heavier…
…and healthier.
I’m stronger.
I have more energy.
I’m sleeping better.
I’m actually eating enough.
And for the first time in a long time, I’m learning that my body isn’t something I have to fight every day.
Recovery has taught me a lot.
One of the biggest lessons is that healthy and skinny aren’t always the same thing.
Still learning.
Still growing.
Still grateful. 💙
