Ernest "Che" Guevara (1928–1967) was an Argentine physician who became one of the most recognizable revolutionary figures in modern history.
After witnessing poverty and inequality across Latin America, he embraced Marxist ideology and joined Fidel Castro's movement, playing a key role in the 1959 Cuban Revolution.
Following the revolution, Che held positions in the Cuban government before leaving to support armed revolutionary movements in Congo and later Bolivia.
In 1967, he was captured by the Bolivian Army during a military campaign and executed shortly afterward. His death transformed him into one of history's most recognizable political symbols.
To some, Che Guevara represents resistance against imperialism and social injustice. To others, he remains a deeply controversial figure because of his support for armed revolution and his role in post-revolutionary executions.
History remembers him not because everyone agrees with him—but because his influence continues to spark debate decades later.
