Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva delivered a fiery response after right-wing presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro mocked his missing finger during their final presidential debate.

Lula, a former metalworker who lost his finger in an industrial accident at just 17, turned the insult into a confrontation over class, privilege, and the realities of Brazil’s working class.

“If there’s anyone who knows what the world of work is like, it’s me,” Lula stated, making sure to highlight how he was forced to work night shifts as a minor to have enough money to simply eat.

He accused Bolsonaro, the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, of never working an honest day in his life, saying his first job was a sham position arranged by his father.

“I won’t allow a militiaman to call me nine-fingered,” Lula stated, demanding an apology.

The exchange highlights the contrast between Lula’s working-class background and the Bolsonaro family’s political dynasty, as well as the mechanisms that drove each campaign.

Lula went even further, applying the law to the Brazilian working class as a whole, arguing that millions of Brazilian workers suffer workplace injuries because of dangerous conditions and employer negligence. Lula effectively and efficiently turned Bolsonaro’s personal attack into a broader indictment of class inequality.

After Lula repeatedly demanded an apology, Flávio backed down and apologised.

What is he talking about 😭

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has sparked controversy after arguing that keeping large amounts of RAM in personal computers is an inefficient use of the world’s limited memory supply. Speaking on the Cheeky Pint podcast in October 2026, Altman claimed that memory sitting largely unused in home computers could be better utilized in cloud data centers, particularly for running AI models.

His comments come amid a global memory shortage, with soaring demand from AI companies contributing to higher prices for consumer electronics. Critics have pointed out the irony of an AI executive criticizing personal RAM ownership when companies like OpenAI are themselves investing heavily in memory-intensive data centers.

Around 80 Delhi Police personnel staged a protest outside the force’s headquarters on Monday, November 2, demanding the reinstatement of two officers transferred following a dispute with lawyers at Shahdara police station.

The protesters sought the restoration of ACP Manasvi Vashistha and Inspector Arun Kumar, the former Station House Officer (SHO) of Shahdara police station. The personnel demanded a meeting with Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar to raise their concerns over the transfers.

The controversy began on October 23, when advocate Lalit Bansal allegedly suffered a serious head injury during a scuffle. Lawyers later accused the police of mishandling the case and alleged that ACP Vashistha displayed his loaded revolver and threatened them during a confrontation at the police station. The revolver allegation has been disputed by senior police officers.

The incident triggered an indefinite strike by lawyers across Delhi’s district courts, who demanded action against the officers concerned. The strike was called off on October 28 after the transfers were ordered. Vashistha was moved to the Special Police Unit for Women and Children, while Kumar was transferred to the Delhi Police Security unit.

However, the transfers sparked resentment among sections of the police force. Messages circulated in police WhatsApp groups calling on personnel to assemble outside headquarters and support the two officers.

On Monday, senior officers attempted to persuade the protesters to move inside the headquarters for discussions. However, the personnel insisted on meeting the commissioner.

The dispute has exposed tensions between the police and legal fraternity. In a separate development, both sides have agreed to establish a joint coordination committee and appoint nodal officers to address grievances and prevent similar confrontations in the future.
