WANNES LECOMPTE

In a world of constant images, Wannes Lecompte (b. 1979) creates paintings that ask us to slow down. His
works reveal themselves gradually, through gestures, rhythms, and the movement of the body
across the canvas.

For Lecompte, painting is about painting itself: colour, direction, and the physical act of making.
His canvases invite us to become attentive viewers and to experience painting as a space of time,
movement, and presence.

While the gallery is closed during the summer period, we remain open online 24/7.

Throughout the summer, we spend our time in the artists’ studios, preparing the upcoming exhibition season.
At the same time, we look back on the past season and revisit selected works
from the gallery’s inventory.
