The first time I hiked in the Needles District of Canyonlands NP and learned about cryptobiotic soil. The complex interaction of organisms in such a harsh environment, allowing for the growth of plants where it might normally be impossible. I saw the beauty of the fragile balance and realized it was worth protecting.

Being an AZ transplant, when I discovered wildfires it awoke something in me to understand why they happen & are so destructive....and then its all snowballed from there for the better ❤️🔥🌲
