How’s fall birding going for everyone? I’ll admit, it’s been tough for me, between work and parenting my 3 young children. When I have gotten out, I’ve often mistimed or gone on a day that ends up feeling less birdy, coming home with few sightings and zero photos…which makes a recent opportunity to spend a little time with a family of cooperative lifer soras feel even more special! I only wish I’d been able to get them in a photo together, but they were darting in and out of the reeds one by one…or occasionally chasing each other.

Wishing them a successful migration to their wintering grounds; they could be going anywhere from the southern US to Mexico, the Caribbean, or even northern parts of South America.

Which birding moments are you feeling grateful for this fall?
