🌕• Full Moon Notes
Every year I make a new self portrait; so I have something new to share as a 'press' portrait. Additionally, I take these portraits to mark the passing of time and to create an archive of how I've looked over the years. Usually I shoot these portraits around my birthday + often are a reflection of themes I'm considering at the time being.
This years' portrait has multiple themes connected to it, as I'm thinking about them a lot. The first one is that of process. Recently, I almost quit 'being' a visual artist or director or creative or whichever word seems to be fitting and can quantify what comes to me through my life force. I was exhausted from working against my own natural intuition + movement. Constantly trying to produce work, consistently trying to control outcomes and feeling terrible when things did not go as planned, ultimately feeling like I had 'failed'. But! I had a very powerful revelation, which came through speaking with loved ones, writing, actively looking at what I naturally move towards the most. I discovered that I have álways been a person who is happier + fulfilled during the process stage - for I am a seer and seeker; ideating, observing, digging, collecting, organising materials + finding connections. Plus, working with & learning from talented folks is what nourishes me, what brings me joy, what charges me. Once the work was there, I started to struggle with outcomes; I can never quite figure out where the work is supposed to go or do once its done. That part does not come naturally to me and I felt as a constant failure because of that. Now I know that if I consider éverything a process, the vibration + energy also will shift within & from me.
Without getting too much into it, the second & third theme are locked in to one another; visibility (letting myself be seen) and protection (from evil eyes). And you know what? None of us make it out alive - so might as well do what you want; especially when it comes to breaking limiting beliefs. Get aligned! Be devoted!
So, here's my self portrait for this year, the process + my hype mantra sent to me by the homie
@savannahsinhal back in 2024. I'm out!
💜, Tarona
