Day 2 of the Civic Space Protection & Regulatory Compliance Training (Cohort IV), organized by the Civic Space Resource Hub in partnership with the West Africa Civil Society Institute, was both insightful and enlightening.

The facilitators delved deeper into advocacy, creating an enabling environment for civil society, and the regulatory foundations that shape the nonprofit sector.

We also gained practical insights into running a nonprofit in Nigeria, including key compliance obligations with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) reporting requirements, and SCUML. The sessions further unpacked the recently signed tax reforms, highlighting the opportunities available to Civil Society Organizations and the importance of proper documentation, personal income tax compliance, and other statutory tax obligations.

The knowledge gained will strengthen our commitment to promoting accountability, good governance, and regulatory compliance while advancing our mission of empowering communities.
