Authorities have arrested and charged an 18-year-old Twin Cities man who was allegedly planning a “mass casualty attack” in support of ISIS at the Mall of America. Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud is accused of telling an FBI informant that he wanted to carry out a mass shooting at MOA on Oct. 24 during the Hmong Arts Celebration, saying he intended to kill as many people, including Asian people and other non-Muslims. According to the charging document, Mohamud told the FBI source in September that Oct. 24 “is the day” because “a lot of people” will be at the mall celebrating, including Chinese and Vietnamese people, and that he was “100% committed [sic] to the cause of dying for the sake of Allah only.”
