Pawn Shop is officially open!
Located on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood, the project transforms the former Brothers Collateral Pawn Shop into a new restaurant, sports bar, and gathering place while keeping the building’s distinctive Art Deco character at the center of the story.
For Omgivning, the project was an opportunity to work with an existing building that already had a strong identity. Rather than erase that history, the design builds from it, preserving the exterior presence, honoring the original storefront, and creating a hospitality experience that feels layered, energetic, and deeply connected to Los Angeles.
As part of that process, the team removed the non-original bright yellow exterior facade that Brothers Collateral Pawn Shop was known for, revealing and restoring the building’s original 1934 Art Deco exterior facade.
Inside, Pawn Shop brings together food, sports, and entertainment in a space designed for connection, from game-day crowds to more intimate moments throughout the venue. As Los Angeles looks ahead to major global sporting events, the project reimagines what a sports bar can be when architecture, reuse, and storytelling are part of the experience.
