There are moments that completely break a man’s armor. I was away for a few weeks, and I knew the kids missed me. But knowing your child misses you and actually seeing him recognize you from far away, that huge smile appearing on his face before he starts running toward you… those are two completely different things. I don’t think I can explain what that does to a father. Life gets busy. Work takes you places, days pass faster than you expect, and sometimes you simply don’t get as much time together as you would like. But then you have a moment like this. Your little boy sees you from across the road, and before you can even call his name, he’s already running toward you. Everything else disappears for a second. Before becoming a father, I never understood that this kind of connection could exist. You think you’re supposed to be the strong one，the one protecting them, providing for them and teaching them about life. Then a little smile and a pair of tiny arms around your neck remind you how much they give back without even knowing it. Maybe that’s what fatherhood has taught me more than anything else. Happiness doesn’t always need to be complicated. Sometimes it has a face. Sometimes it has tiny arms wrapped around your neck.
