Lately I’ve realized that the older I get, the less I want a crowd and the more I value a circle.
The kind of friendships I’m talking about aren’t flashy. They’re the quiet, steadfast ones.
The friends who laugh until you cry over dinner, wander through little shops together, take road trips, watch movies, pray for one another, celebrate life’s victories, and show up during the hard seasons too.
The ones who check on you just because you crossed their mind.
The ones where months can pass, but the conversation picks right back up where it left off.
The ones who love you enough to tell you the truth, pray with you, encourage you, and remind you that you’re never alone.
Distance doesn’t weaken these friendships. Time doesn’t erase them. They are built on love, trust, grace, and the choice to keep showing up for one another.
As I step into this next season of life, I’ve been praying for more of these “front porch” friendships—where conversation comes easy, laughter is plentiful, faith is shared, and everyone feels at home. The kind where life isn’t perfect, but it’s better because you’re walking through it together.
If you’re longing for friendships like that too, maybe this is your reminder that you’re not the only one. Sometimes all it takes is one conversation, one coffee date, or one “Would you like to get together?” to begin something beautiful.
“Two are better than one… If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 ❤️
