Two boys were hospitalized after a firework accident in Tulsa on Wednesday.
At 10:20 p.m., TPD responded to a call near 46th Street North and Main. A 12-year-old boy was holding a mortar firework for an 11-year-old boy to light before it exploded.
The 12-year-old lost a hand and suffered significant trauma to his eye; the 11-year-old has upper body wounds. Both are expected to survive. Read more about it at the link in my bio.

It’s insane to me that people don’t look at fireworks like explosive devices because it’s exactly what they are and you’d never put a bomb in a kids hands but for some reason when it’s a firework that just goes out the window because “fun toy” I guess?
