📝 The Unlocking Syllabus is here!
For the past few years, I’ve been deep in the day-to-day of storytelling work: facilitating workshops, coaching, teaching, editing. I’ve led storytelling sessions for a wide range of people: educators publishing their teaching stories, rural caregivers advocating for federal caregiving policies, high school students delivering feedback to school staff, women in construction documenting their work for evaluations and networking, pageant titleholders preparing for the interview phase of competition, Black women scholars harnessing storytelling for their dissertation defenses.
All of these experiences have reminded me of the power of community and connection, and how much I value supporting others on their storytelling journeys.
They’ve also reminded me how much I love learning as much as I love teaching – the pursuit of knowledge, digging deeper, finding and analyzing information.
For a while, I’ve been a little obsessed with an idea: what if I built myself a personal curriculum? One year mapped out with monthly focuses, readings, prompts, even field trips, the way I’d build a course. I started making it for myself. And then I couldn’t stop thinking about building one for us.
So here it is: The Unlocking Syllabus — a year-long storytelling curriculum, one theme a month, with prompts, readings, and space to actually tell the stories you’ve been carrying.
If you’re the kind of person who’s been sitting on a story – the messy one, the unfinished one, the one you’ve told so many times or maybe not at all – you’re in the right place.
